With the on-going controversy over the teaching of intelligent design in science classrooms (and the peculiar vision of academic freedom that ID proponents promulgate), it's clear that the nation needs to have a discussion about what science actually is and how it should be taught in our education system. The National Academy of Sciences recently chipped in with the updated version of their booklet Science, Evolution, and Creationism. Free Exchange on Campus is happy that Jay B. Labov, the Academy's Senior Advisor for Education and Communications, is able to join us this morning for an interview covering the basic foundations of science, evolutionary theory, the dangers of allowing ID into the classroom, and academic freedom. Follow us over the jump for the whole interview!
