Horowitz Fact Checker

Other fact checks

David Horowitz doesn't just play fast and loose with the facts on his profiles of professors and institutions. His mischaracterizations of the truth extend to other realms of his on-campus work. We'll be featuring his other problems with the truth here...

David Horowitz's Indoctrination U "Studies"

Following up on his now infamous and error-riddled book The Professors, David Horowitz and his staff at FrontPageMag went to work creating a series entitled the "Indoctrination Studies." In these studies, Horowitz supposedly examines the problem of "curricular indoctrination." We would agree with Horowitz's own assessment that the methodology of these studies "is far from ideal." It is not only far from ideal, it is insufficient and worse, misleading. These studies are full of errors and misrepresentations that are woven together to paint an inaccurate picture of college courses, programs and faculty. Free Exchange has closely examined these "studies" and will be documenting some of the errors and misrepresentations put forward by Horowitz and his staff. We encourage readers to add to our list.

The Pennsylvania Academic Freedom Hearings

David Horowitz is telling a story about the Pennsylvania Academic Freedom Hearings. Free Exchange ran his report thought the fact checker and is Setting the Record Straight.

The Professors

"I have revised and edited all of the profiles contained in this text
and rewritten many . . . I am ultimately responsible
for their judgements and accuracy"
- David Horowitz, in the introduction to The Professors

“We don’t normally specifically fact check.”
– Patricia Jackson, David Horowitz’s publicist

Free Exchange has taken a close look at David Horowitz’s new book, The Professors: The 101 Most Dangerous Academics in America, and found a trail of errors and misrepresentations. We will be documenting these here at Free Exchange with interviews and analyses based on the book. Each response will be archived to help readers see how inaccurate Horowitz’s representation of college and university faculty is. We encourage readers to add to our list.
