News Flash: Horowitz bases arguments on shoddy research! PDF Print E-mail

Yes folks, David Horowitz is at it again - publishing a book that accuses faculty members and all of higher education of bad teaching and "indoctrination."  And instead of providing any sort of novel arguments or meaningful information, his book is simply a re-packaging of his agenda relying again on poor research and baseless conclusions.

His latest book, One Party Classroom - a compilation of the "Indoctrination Studies" he has published on a variety of his web sites over the past couple of years - is exactly what we've come to expect from Horowitz and his co-author Jacob Laksin: another round of over-the-top attacks on faculty members and higher education institutions backed up with long-since debunked arguments and shoddy research.  It's also a veritable style guide for how not to do research - misstating faculty credentials, misrepresenting actual course reading lists, taking quotes out of context and presenting them as representative, making sweeping generalizations about institutions (and really, about all of higher education) from an irresponsibly small and cherry-picked sample... we could go on and on.  You can get a taste of how woefully inadequate Horowitz and Laksin's "research" is from our fact-checking of some of their web-based "Indoctrination Studies" here.

Horowitz had a template for improving his research in our Facts Count document which dissected his previous smearing of higher education in The Professors.  But of course, Horowitz isn't so much interested in providing an accurate picture of American colleges and universities as he is in promoting his ideological agenda.  As it stands, it looks like we'll have to go through that whole fact-checking exercise again.
