Only one week after Sara Dogan proclaimed that "[a]nother victorious chapter has been added to the storied history of the Academic Bill of Rights" (we spent a good chunk of last week trying to find the other implied victorious chapters, but then concluded that Dogan is - shockingly enough - given to hyperbole), the short history of the Academic Bill of Rights at the College of DuPage in Illinois came to an end when a newly elected Board of Trustees voted 4-3 to rescind the misguided measure.CoD Student Government President Allison Schraub seems to have it right when she said "ABOR was 'absolutely inappropriate,' and said that the people in favor of ABOR had their own political biases. 'We already have a grievance process in place.'"
We would say "easy come, easy go," but this victory came about because of the hard work that faculty, students, and their allies put into working with and for candidates for their Board. Congratulations all around, and enjoy having your campus back!
