After being pushed through the House Education Committee by Rep. Koopman, HB 525, the ACTA-inspired "intellectual diversity" bill, has just been defeated on the Montana House floor 57-43.  This is a bipartisan vote of confidence for Montana colleges and universities, their faculty and their students. It is a vote for academic freedom and the free exchange of ideas on campus.

As Rep. Margarett Campbell, D-Poplar, says in The Billings Gazette: "This is an extremist bill, and one that is soundly rejected by the higher education community."
